I finally decided to test out MikroC for PIC micro. This is a confusing yet very cool compiler. Confusing since all config bits are done in IDE which makes it a hassle to copy over to another compiler.
But here is a screen shot of it all… Works!!
If you haven’t tried it, give HI-TECH C a go. It is probably going to be the next “official” C18 anyway as Microchip bought them. It’s got a great GUI and after one evening testing I really like it.
It is simple enough that you can setup hardware, configuration and registers using a GUI if you want, but it also allows you to do everything entirely in code.
The MikroC libraries look great (even if they are closed source) but HI-TECH has no code limitations and seems to be really neat.
