Here is my first double sided PCB … i tried something small. A adjustable Regulator for Micros… Uses a AMS1117 ADJ….

At first all my Double Sided tries failed due to no way to protect TOP SIDE from etchent. But after some thought and talk with the wife we tried… NAIL POLISH and it protects 100%
I am AMAZED! it worked so well. I took some pictures …

Ha ha haa Finally you have done it. Nail Polish is ok for smaller pcbs. But its only covers very very thin layer. So it will easily get scratched.

is it not a safe idea to transfer the toner to both sides of the PCB then etch in one go?

Not really doable. Since i use toner only it is easily scratched off. and remelts when heat is applied. So when i laminate for side b side a is gone

Apply some sticky tape or even use labels, cut to cover the surface area.
